June 2011

The CWS staff in Latin America and the Caribbean invites you to join with us in prayer, whether in the work/office setting or as individuals.

We pray for…

…hundreds of indigenous families in the lower Pilcomayo river (a tri-national area connecting Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina) who for centuries relied on fishing this part of the year and whose food security and livelihoods are at serious danger because shoals have not arrived yet. This obeys, in part, to changing rainfall patterns and also to the negative environmental consequences of a number of canals and dams built for cattle-ranchers that affect the normal use and management of the river. We pray for CWS partners who are promoting much-needed dialogue among authorities of the three countries to address short and long-term solutions.

We give thanks for…

...for Ana Karen, Daniela, Anthony and other Uruguayan youth participants in CWS-supported children program who gave testimony and advocated before the commission of Sports of Uruguay´s House of Representatives for the construction of a much-needed sports center in their community of Malvin Norte.
