The power of the Brazilian Carnival is used in a very particular way.


 

The Projeto Meninos e Meninas de Rua (Streetkids Project) from São Paulo, Brazil, organization that has been supported by CWS since 1989, uses the carnival to convey messages related to children´s rights 

“We truly value the support and assistance of CWS over the years - it has been fundamental to achieving our goals” says Denisse Pichardo, Ivy Interamericas´ award winner for 2011.

Denisse Pichardo, founder and CEO of Proyecto Educativo Caminante (Walker Educational Project), CWS-supported organization since its inception, received this award last Monday in recognition of her outstanding contributions toward improving the lives of children and their communities.


Exhlet Sur community in Paraguay recovers ancestral land

 

“We are pleased that finally the Government has returned our land to us, land that has always been ours.  After over 10 years we have finally managed to recover part of our ancestral territory,” says Celso Benítez, leader of Kelyenmagategma community.


Representatives of the ASR network return to Haiti motivated by their participation in the First Central American and the Caribbean follow-up meeting to the UN Study on Violence against Children.
Jean Salomón, president of the Haitian ASR network (Down with Restavek Network) and lawyer Nadine François, the network’s advocacy coordinator, participated in this gathering of some 250 high-level government, civil society and youth representatives from Central America, Dominican Republic, México and Cuba.
